BD Rotarians Give The Finger... to Polo!World Polio Day is Saturday October 24. Donning “Give Polio the Finger” shirts, Beaver Dam Rotary joins in the global fight to eradicate polio. When polio vaccines are administered, the fingernail of the recipient’s right baby finger is painted purple. Consequently, people who have been vaccinated are easily identified by their purple fingernail.

Tree Planting
On Arbor Day, April 24, 2015, at 10:30 at the Jefferson Elementary School in Beaver Dam, the Beaver Dam Rotary will sponsor the annual tree planting and ceremony. Begun on April 29, 1954, the Beaver Dam Rotary has every year provided a tree to be planted to become part of the Jefferson School Arboretum. Gale Prinsen, retired Jefferson School teacher, will lead the ceremony and thereafter, with the assistance of the children, plant the tree. As a special treat this year John Herzog, arborist, will give a presentation and hopefully a climbing demonstration. At this year's ceremony, the Beaver Dam Rotary will present Mr. Prinsen with a Paul Harris Award for his many years of Arbor Day service. |
